About

Because of the health measures in place due to COVID-19, we had to rethink our summer projects so that we could provide our artists with work. The solution we came up with is “The Art of Distancing”, an artistic take on ground markings and signage for public and private places required to enforce distancing. This undertaking is perfectly in line with MU’s mission: beautify communities with art, employ and promote local artists, and engage with communities.

The Ville-Marie borough asked MU to transform some fifty cement blocks used to cordon off roads that have been made into pedestrian and semi-pedestrian zones. You can see the blocks on Rue de Rouen, Du Havre and Robin. The artist Roadsworth was selected for this first mandate. He chose bright candy-like colours to create a joyful, family-friendly atmosphere.
