About
The project began with a brainstorming workshop where a group of participants shared their ideas. MU then created a mural in collaboration with students from Eulalie-Durocher School. The mural was created during five workshops, during which artists and facilitators guided the students through the different stages of mural painting. This process allowed the young people to connect more closely with the arts, through a creative and collective experience that strengthened their connection to artistic expression.
Julian Palma’s work is part of a series of projects carried out over three years with several groups led by art teacher Nadine Guesdon. The mural depicts the student with his convictions and perseverance despite a difficult academic journey. Representations of time and flight symbolize the idea that, by staying in school, they are now able to spread their wings and chart their own path. Inspired by the large windows, the artiste also wanted to capture the sun’s rays to make the stairwell a witness to the passing of time, much like a sundial. Finally, this mural is truly immersive: when you find yourself in this space, you feel enveloped and protected by immense vegetation.
