Celebrating MU’s 20th anniversary means affirming that MU is an essential player in Montréal. For two decades, our murals have been created with communities and act as genuine levers for social change. MU has left its mark on the city through large-scale works, its Cultural Builders collection, and its recognized work in neighbourhoods. It is also a school for emerging artists, a driver of school perseverance, and a major springboard for women in a historically male-dominated field.
For 20 years, MU has been making things beautiful and doing good, proving that it is far more than beautification:
A cultural and social necessity.

Artists’ maquettes, sketches, production artifacts, unusual objects, and stories from some of our flagship projects that have left their mark on Montréal: follow the thread of an idea, from artistic vision to material, from the studio to the wall, all the way to its encounter with a neighbourhood. It’s finally here, MU’s long-awaited 20th anniversary book! Needless to say, the excitement is at its peak! A beautiful art book, just the way we like them, that opens the doors to a rich journey through the history of Montréal muralism while revealing MU’s behind-the-scenes over the past twenty years.

This time, we’re not dressing up exterior walls, but yours!
The festivities continue! Do you know this lovely artsy shop in the Mile End? Starting September 17, MU is taking over one of the spaces at Galerie-boutique Bref with a colourful pop-up, selling, just for you, 12 mural maquettes in poster format to brighten your walls, along with MU’s book and various other products from our collaborating artists. Personally, we can’t wait to get some for our own homes. Can you?

September: last month to enjoy our discovery tours!
A different way to showcase our works: we’re always talking to you about our murals through our images and online stories… but what could be better than admiring them in person, and discovering through these works all the behind-the-scenes stories that come with them? Because creating a mural at MU is much more than making something beautiful; it’s a whole story.
