Cedar-Eve Peters is a visual artist currently living in Montreal. She is Anishinabe (Ojibway), originally from Manitoulin Island and the Saugeen First Nation, but she was born and raised in Toronto. She is a self-taught bead artist, and her work is often inspired by elements of nature, urban landscapes, her dream world, and the surreal. Cedar believes it is important to explore the identities of Indigenous peoples in the 21st century to keep tradition alive. The colors she uses are vibrant yet rooted in the knowledge of her ancestors. The creation of high-visibility jewelry, intuitive work, and random patterns are what make her beadwork unique.
