Maxilie Martel-Racicot is a young multidisciplinary artist, born in Montréal in 1989. She works in street art, painting, sculpture, installation, and performance art. In her sculptural work, she mainly depicts a grotesque imaginary world devoted to the representation of the “super-woman.” The idea of a precious object made from cheap, glittering materials is one of the guiding principles of her artistic practice. In her street art, she caricatures her vision of the individual in Western society. Presented either as groups or as individuals, her characters are drawn from the concept of the worker. They mostly look anxious and unwelcoming, and sport a unibrow. These characters often take the form of tense businessmen, monsters, or robots.
