About
The plateau Mont-Royal is recognized as one of the most vibrant, dynamic and creative neighborhoods in Montreal. This is particularly true in regards to urban art, as seen in the abundance of sanctioned and unsanctioned murals throughout the neighbourhood. MU welcomed one of the biggest names in international mural art to create a mural on a high-visibility wall on avenue Mont-Royal, thus fostering the continued enrichment of the area’s urban art legacy.
The mural, entitled Art Libre – Free Art, was created by the Italian artist Millo. It represents a number of local references and reminds us with subtle irony, the essential role played by art and culture in the lives of Montrealers.
This project was funded under the Entente sur le développement culturel de Montréal, by the City of Montreal and the Ministère de la Culture et Communications Québec.
