About

As part of the deployment of the Montmorency cultural center, this new mural will offer a real beautification cure to the Concorde railway viaduct. This public art project, the most ambitious ever carried out in Laval, will contribute to making the neighborhood livelier and to enriching the experience of users of the sector, who will have the opportunity to admire an impressive work by an artist on a daily basis. ‘here.

Dawn to dusk transforms the underside of the Boul. de la Concorde underpass into a tree canopy through which we witness the movement of the sun throughout the course of a day as it tracks from east to west across the sky. The depiction of the sun in the mural coincides with the real world path of the sun across the Northern hemisphere and thereby serves to orient the viewer in the otherwise disorienting and enclosed space of the underpass. The organic forms of leaves that occupy the mural’s foreground provide a calming and cooling effect in much the same way a tree’s canopy does, giving temporary relief from a relatively noisy and aggressive urban environment to those passing underneath.
