MU and the Garage à musique of the Dr. Julien Foundation have partnered for a project combining collective music and collective visual arts. MU offered 13 participants of the Garage à musique the chance to learn more about mural arts through a series of activities. These covered historical aspects, discussions (graffiti vs. public art), meet-and-greets with professional artists and in situ visits of murals as well as creation and experimentation with a variety of mediums and techniques (stenciling, squaring off, etc.). The eight workshops culminated in the creation of two interior murals within the building where the Garage is temporarily housed.
This project benefited financial support from the Ministry of Culture, Communications and Status of Women of Québec and the City of Montreal in the context of the Agreement on the Cultural Development of Montreal.
