About

The Caisse Desjardins du Plateau-Mont-Royal commissioned MU to create an outdoor mural project. The central theme of the work will revolve around nature and the environment. The artist selected for this project is Meky Ottawa, an Atikamekw artist originally from the community of Manawan.

This artwork depicts a woman dancing in her jingle dress. It is a dance of prayer and healing. The piece is monochrome, in shades of blue. The figure is made of light and stars. She dances day and night atop Mount Royal. The work features symbols inspired by nature, such as flowers, the sun, the moon, the mountain, and the wind. These symbols represent the four directions, the connection to the spirit world, and the cycle of life. This artwork speaks to healing, resilience, and the light we carry within ourselves.
