About
The mural Rêve Idiomatique is the result of a series of art workshops led by MU at Collège de Maisonneuve during Francofête in winter 2025. Guided through a collective ideation process, students explored their sense of belonging to their school through the richness of the French language. By creating a lexical field of meaningful words and expressions, they brought forward shared themes such as inclusion, friendship, and the dream of a promising future.
These ideas then came to life as illustrated idiomatic expressions woven into the mural: “Thinking outside the box,” “Having one’s head in the clouds,” “With flying colors,” “Tending one’s garden,” “Reaching for the moon,” and “The die is cast.” Each expression becomes a visual metaphor representing boldness, imagination, perseverance, and solidarity. The artwork also pays tribute to the college’s distinctive architecture and its interior garden — a true source of inspiration for students.
Deeply rooted in language and oriented toward the future, the mural celebrates human connection, ambition, and the creativity of the students of Collège de Maisonneuve through the poetry of the French language.
