Melsa Montagne earned her diploma in visual arts in 1998 from Cégep de Montmorency. In 2008, she decided to devote herself full-time to her artistic practice. Driven by an inner need to create, Melsa has already built an impressive body of work.
Highly active on the Montreal art scene, she takes part in numerous exhibitions, festivals, collective projects, outdoor murals, art auctions, and competitions. She has received several awards, including the first prize at the 2016 Mtl en Arts festival.
Her work has been shown both solo and in group exhibitions in Montreal, across Quebec, in Toronto, Boston, and Australia. Between 2016 and 2021, she was represented by two galleries in Quebec: Galerie MX in Montreal and Galerie Champagne et Paradis in Kamouraska.
Melsa paints anonymous portraits—singular, sensitive human beings revealing their truths through emotion. Her instinctive and expressive approach leads her to create from accidents. She thus avoids repetition and constantly seeks renewal.
