Énergir commissioned MU to create this mural on the retaining wall surrounding the parking area of its headquarters, located at 1717 rue du Havre in Montreal. The wall previously featured a mural painted in 2007 for the company’s 50th anniversary. The renewal of this artistic and community-based project aims to enhance the headquarters’ surroundings, highlight the company and its values, and contribute to urban beautification.
The words appearing on the mural are INNOVATION – INCLUSION – ÉNERGIE POSITIVE (POSITIVE ENERGY) – ELEMENTS – ENSEMBLE (TOGETHER). According to Peru Dyer, the artist behind the work: “These values are at the heart of a progressive society and a healthy community. I strongly believe in the interconnectedness of all living beings — with nature, our ecosystem, and with one another.”
Two community painting days were organized so that local residents and workers from the neighbourhood could help paint the mural alongside the artist.
