About
This mural was created by the French artist Seth, in collaboration with the Belz community school on Laurier Street West, SDC Laurier Ouest, the Plateau-Mont-Royal borough, the City of Montreal, the Government of Quebec and the Consulate General of France in Montreal.
This work was produced in the heart of the Plateau-Mont-Royal district, at a school for girls from the Belz Hasidic community. It continues the efforts to revitalize the sector while allowing for connections between two Montreal communities seeking to live better together. It promotes interactions between citizens and becomes a potential meeting point between Montreal residents of various origins, including the Hasidic Jewish community. These exchanges encourage intercommunity dialogue and thus contribute to strengthening social ties across the city and reinforcing a common sense of belonging.
Having an immense background as a committed artist and an ability to forge links between different communities, the artist Seth focuses on the universalism of children. A true globetrotter, he is the instigator of the educational mural project “Back to School!” ”, an initiative that aims to increase the value and significance of schools by presenting children with a monumental work of art. This adds fantasy and dreams to their minds, and marks the school at the heart of its neighborhood, of its city. This new mural is therefore part of a highly renowned global collection, benefiting from international influence.
