GESTION ESPLANADE CARTIER inc. called upon MU to create two murals to complete the visual identity of this new neighbourhood located near the Jacques Cartier Bridge. The selected artists, Diane Roe and MSHL, were able to design their works during the planning phase of the district, thus creating abstract pieces that harmonize with the built environment and echo the architectural elements of the area.
Diane Roe chose to depict a sunrise over a semi-abstract landscape, echoing the emergence of this new neighborhood that symbolizes the beginning of a new life for its residents. It also acts as a mirror to the real sun rising in line with the esplanade behind the Jacques-Cartier Bridge. The shades of blue and green create a visual connection with the color of the bridge.
