The mural titled The Universe of Possibilities is the culmination of a series of workshops offered by MU as part of the Visual Arts course on urban design. Students were invited to reflect on the school’s three core values: kindness, respect, and a sense of belonging. Through a collective ideation process, small groups explored the values most important to them and what they represent.
For the students, kindness evoked the possibility of growth and development. This was illustrated by a plant that is cared for, grows, and flourishes.
Respect evoked the time and patience needed to build healthy, harmonious relationships; it is depicted by an hourglass.
Finally, the sense of belonging highlighted the notion of inclusion—particularly through the students’ diverse culinary cultures, theatrical activities at school, and the image of the beehive, which here represents community and its collective knowledge.
