About
This mural continues our commitment to the revitalization of Savoie Avenue, which we began in 2014 with Murs à Mots, a series of ten murals dedicated to literature in partnership with the BAnQ. With Merci, Beau Dommage, we pay tribute to a band whose music and lyrics are an integral part of our collective landscape, and which this year celebrates the 50th anniversary of the release of its first album.
Located on the rear wall of the building housing the ADISQ offices, the mural also evokes the neighborhood’s history—once a vibrant hub of cabarets, bars, and performance venues of all kinds, where music played a central role.
This project is part of the City of Montréal’s Propulser le Quartier Latin initiative, which aims to strengthen the district’s francophone identity, boost local activity, and foster collaboration among its cultural, economic, and social stakeholders.
The work is part of our Les bâtisseur·e·s culturel·le·s de Montréal collection, which pays tribute to the influential figures who have shaped our collective identity.
