Originally from Rennes and now based in Montreal since 2009, Mshl — pronounced Michel — has been practicing graffiti for over 25 years. In Quebec, he has expanded his artistic exploration, giving greater importance to abstraction in his work. He has participated in various exhibitions in Montreal and created large-scale works in the city’s public spaces. Alternating between geometric and organic forms, Mshl plays with space, alignment, and color (with blue never far away) to achieve compositions that strive for balance.
Since 2017, through his involvement with MU, he has been offering workshops in schools and assisting numerous muralists, all while continuing his own artistic research. Alongside painting, he has been experimenting with video since 2013. His work has earned him several awards, providing opportunities to project his films on Montreal’s walls and at the city’s renowned Fantasia Festival.
