About
A brainstorming session allowed high school students from École Polyvalente Saint-Jérôme to define the ideas conveyed by the mural: transformation, evolution, balance, and inclusion. The students also wanted to explore these themes through the metaphor of nature.
Diane Roe designed a landscape where nature embodies ongoing transformation. Flowers, crocuses, and butterflies evoke passage, resilience, and renewal. Crocuses emerging from the snow illustrate life’s persistence despite apparent stillness, while butterflies symbolize subtle yet essential change. Colours and shapes interact to create a balance rooted in diversity rather than uniformity. The piece highlights a harmonious coexistence of elements, without hierarchy. The composition thus becomes a metaphor for the living world, where evolution, inclusion, and plurality lie at the heart of a balance that is both dynamic and serene.
