About

The mural “Grandir” (To Grow), created by artist Caitlin McDonagh, enhances the living environment for women and children residing in the housing provided by the Mères avec Pouvoir Foundation. This foundation offers affordable apartments, early childhood care through the CPE du Carrefour, and social and professional support to numerous single mothers. These mothers, in search of a life project or personal and professional development, shared with the artist and MU the ideas they hoped to see reflected in the mural.

One of the key elements chosen by the women was the transition from childhood to adulthood. To represent this, Caitlin McDonagh illustrated plants growing, from their roots to their stems. Personal growth, flourishing, and learning are symbolized by birds, butterflies — referencing the Mères avec Pouvoir Foundation — and flowers advancing together towards the sky.
