About

In collaboration with MU, Ballets Jazz Montréal (BJM) created this large-scale mural to mark their 50th anniversary. It serves as a visual embodiment of BJM’s uniqueness in the Plateau Mont-Royal neighborhood, which has been more than important in their history and evolution. It represents the company’s values, which are aligned with those of MU: Originality, Authenticity, Audacity, Precision.

The work was created by artist Franco Égalité, assisted by Zoë Gelfant. It is the 25th work in the “Montreal Cultural Builders”* collection, and the first to represent dance.

*The “Montreal Cultural Builders” collection was launched in 2010 on the initiative of MU. It aims to recognize the invaluable contribution of the city’s creators in various artistic disciplines. It is an honor for MU to pay tribute to this company, which, since its creation, has been one of the most emblematic ambassadors of Montreal dance and Quebec’s artistic vitality around the world.
