About

This project is part of a longstanding partnership with the Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension borough, which sees mural art as an important tool in neighbourhood beautification and revitalization. Since 2007, MU has created seven murals in the borough, all on the theme of intercultural encounters—a clear nod to the area’s multi-ethnic population.

We invited internationally renowned Chilean artist Mono Gonzalez to create a piece for the chalet in Parc Turin.

The artwork, entitled Diálogo is in line with Gonzalez’s ever-evolving artistic process. His work is charged with Latin-American energy that shines through in his palette of vibrant, shocking colours. For this mural, he integrated elements from the park: the birds of Parc Turin are in dialogue with human elements, symbolized by overlapping shapes and colours. Furthermore, Gonzalez incorporated various symbols representing Canada’s First Nations into the mural.

The artist was assisted by Julian Palma and Rocio Perez.
