About
This project was undertaken as part of an extracurricular activities program aimed at supporting the psychosocial and academic adjustment of high school students facing socio-emotional difficulties (e.g., anxiety, social withdrawal, depression). The workshops took place over 12 consecutive weeks. The objective was to create a sense of belonging for students by transforming one of their common spaces into a welcoming environment.
The theme chosen by the youth and the artistic educators is school rhythm, fantasy, and renewal. The mural’s design was created by the artist Borrris. Warm colors were chosen to bring warmth to the school, in a place often cooled by drafts. The phoenix symbolizes perseverance and the transformation we experience during our academic journey. The various activities offered by École Dalbé Viau were represented by the characters.
