About
In 2018 and 2019, the Habitations Jeanne-Mance (HJM) parking lots underwent major renovations. These revitalization projects focused on strengthening HJM’s commitment to the environment through the creation of a second green parking lot that allows rainwater infiltration and reduces the urban heat island effect. In order to ensure the project’s success and tenants’ understanding of the larger issues at stake, MU and HJM organized participative artistic street marking activities. This project focused on mobilizing the residents around the environmental redevelopment and created a sense of ownership for their living environment. It also created a dialogue with the numerous pedestrians who walk through the HJM grounds every day and demonstrated that projects like this are important and feasible.
