About
This new mural was created in the summer of 2023 by MU and the artist Borrris. It aims to improve the appearance of the Francis-Bouillon arena, a symbolic place for residents of the neighborhood. Art being a vector of social transformation for places and communities, this mural is an important marker of valorization of the cultural heritage of the district and involves the citizens of the neighborhood in the creative process.
In addition to the mural, cultural mediation activities were organized with the Hochelaga Community Center (CCH). The local community was approached to inform and invite citizens to participate in cultural activities in Raymond-Préfontaine Park. The teenagers were invited to meet the artist to discover his work and participate in the ideation of the work (think about the theme of movement and how this theme translates into their lives). This civic participation allows adolescents to be a part of the cultural excitement of their neighborhood and to develop their cultural citizenship. It is thanks to these conversations that art in public space creates encounters, exchanges, curiosity and a feeling of belonging to one’s living environment.
